At Safe Harbor Charlotte, we understand that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. For individuals who need more than traditional outpatient services, but do not require inpatient hospitalization. Our Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) program provides structured, intensive, and clinically guided care while allowing clients to remain connected to their home, family, and community.

What is SACOT?

SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment) is a structured, high-intensity outpatient program designed for individuals experiencing moderate to severe substance use disorders who require consistent therapeutic support, monitoring, and accountability.

Our Program Offers:

  • Structured clinical services multiple days per week

  • Individual and group therapy sessions

  • Relapse prevention planning

  • Behavioral health support

  • Case management and resource coordination

  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT), when appropriate

  • Ongoing recovery skill development

This level of care provides more support than traditional outpatient services while still allowing participants to live at home.

Who is SACOT For?

SACOT may be appropriate for individuals who:

  • Have a history of relapse

  • Need structured support but do not require detox or inpatient treatment

  • Are stepping down from a higher level of care

  • Need accountability and consistent therapeutic engagement

  • Are court-referred or justice-involved

  • Struggle with co-occurring mental health conditions

Each client receives a comprehensive assessment to determine medical necessity and the appropriate level of care.

What to Expect?

Comprehensive Assessment

Every client begins with a full clinical evaluation to assess substance use history, mental health status, and individual treatment needs.

Individualized Treatment Plan

We develop a customized recovery plan tailored to your goals, strengths, and challenges.

 

Group Therapy

Evidence-based group sessions focus on:

  • Cognitive behavioral strategies

  • Coping skill development

  • Emotional regulation

  • Peer accountability

  • Trauma-informed care

Individual Counseling

Clients meet regularly with a licensed clinician to address underlying issues, develop recovery strategies, and track progress.

 

Case Management

We help connect clients to:

  • Employment resources

  • Housing support

  • Medical services

  • Community resources

  • Family support services

Family Engagement

When appropriate, family involvement is encouraged to strengthen long-term recovery outcomes.

Program Schedule & Commitment

SACOT typically involves structured programming operates at least 4 hours a day Monday through Friday for at least 20 hours per week. 

Duration of participation varies based on:

  • Clinical progress

  • Individual treatment goals

  • Court or referral requirements

  • Insurance authorization (when applicable)

Our team works closely with each participant to ensure progress toward sustained recovery.
